Language Care

“Whoever teaches learns in the act of teaching, and whoever learns teaches in the act of learning.” - Paulo Freire

What is Language Care?

We provide quality, timely and professional interpreting services for medical, legal and event interpretations with a focus on in-person interpretation. We are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We provide facilitation between limited English proficiency patients, their physicians, nurses, lab technicians and other health care providers. The result is patient satisfaction with optimal results.

What is In-Person Interpreting?

In-person interpreting involves a trained interpreter physically present to facilitate real-time communication between parties who do not share a common language. This method ensures accuracy and immediacy in translation, providing a personal touch that can enhance understanding and trust among all parties involved.

Benefits of In-Person vs. Video or Phone Interpreting

We emphasize the importance of in-person interpreting because it ensures that everyone in Merced County receives information in a fair and equitable way. In-Person Interpreting can also supply the following benefits:

  • Reading Body Language: In-person interpreters can observe non-verbal cues and body language, which are crucial for understanding the full context of a conversation, especially in emotionally charged or nuanced discussions.

  • Ensuring Privacy: Physical presence in sensitive settings, like medical appointments or legal consultations, helps maintain confidentiality and privacy, which might be compromised in remote or digital formats.

  • Handling Complex Discussions: Face-to-face interaction is invaluable when discussions are complex or culturally sensitive. In-person interpreters are better positioned to manage these dynamics effectively, ensuring clarity and preventing misunderstandings in our diverse community.

24/7 Medical Interpretation Services

Our Language Care program collaborates with local medical agencies, including Dignity Health and the Central California Alliance for Health, to offer round-the-clock interpreting services. This ensures that all patients receive clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive medical information during emergencies. Our interpreters are expertly trained to support diverse communities in critical medical settings, facilitating effective communication at all times.
