OUR WORK

Financial Empowerment

United Way of Merced County offers free programs aimed at promoting financial stability, such as our Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA) program. Additionally, we provide Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) for undocumented residents who need to file tax returns.

Health Equity

We collaborate with the Central California Alliance for Health under the CalAIM initiative to provide comprehensive case management. This initiative ensures community members are connected to necessary healthcare resources, while also addressing housing needs. By integrating local knowledge and respecting cultural traditions, this partnership focuses on enhancing overall well-being in Merced County’s diverse communities. Digital Inclusion

We are dedicated to enhancing digital equity in Merced County, particularly focusing on the City of Merced. The project aims to bridge the digital divide through sustainable digital inclusion initiatives, leveraging local and state resources to foster long-term empowerment for underserved populations. Key strategies include engaging community stakeholders, expanding digital literacy, and forming strong partnerships to support comprehensive digital equity plans.

Disaster Relief

We are deeply involved in ongoing disaster relief efforts. As a key partner in the Long Term Recovery Group and committed member of Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), we focus on comprehensive support for disaster-impacted communities. This includes distributing payments to Planada flood survivors in collaboration with Merced County, ensuring those affected receive the necessary financial support during recovery. Our multifaceted approach emphasizes strong local partnerships and effective resource distribution to foster community resilience and aid recovery.

Business Support

We support microenterprises and small businesses who experienced shortfalls in Merced during the COVID-19 pandemic. This program provides financial aid to help cover costs related to safety measures, social distancing requirements, and business stabilization. Eligible expenses include PPE, equipment for social distancing, and essential business costs like payroll and leases. Funding is available on a first-come, first-reviewed basis, with a maximum of $30,000 per applicant.
