SACRAMENTO – United Way of Merced

implement outreach activities aimed at educating communities
about the importance of saving energy. “Flex Your
Power” is a comprehensive marketing and outreach
campaign targeted to rural communities. It is managed
by Sacramento-based Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn, Inc.
The statewide program is funded by California utility
customers and administered by California Investor Owned
Utilities, such as Pacific Gas and Electric Company, under
the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission.
“We are pleased to partner with PG&E on this
worthwhile campaign that aims to educate the public about
ways to save energy, save money and ultimately save the
environment,” said Estelle Saltzman, President,
Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn, Inc. “United Way
of Merced County has developed a variety of exciting activities
and events to reach large numbers of local residents.”
“PG&E believes in the value of energy efficiency
and the importance of sharing its benefits with our customers,”
said Tom Smith, PG&E representative. "We are
proud to collaborate with United Way of Merced County
in their local outreach efforts and constantly look for
ways to educate customers on how Flex Your Power programs
can save energy, money and protect the environment. We
take pride in our partnership with Flex Your Power and
United Way of Merced County to make energy efficiency
a fundamental part of serving our customers.”
Flip Hassett, Executive Director of United Way of Merced
County said “We are very pleased to have been selected
to participate in the Flex Your Power outreach campaign.
All of us are working together to achieve a common goal:
to protect the environment for future generations by showing
people how they can reduce energy, save money and save
the planet.
We have some great activities planned, including a Pledge
Card Drive, booths at the Merced County Fair and the Farmer’s
Market in Merced, a Girl Scout troop pledge contest. For
more information, call our office at 209-383-4242.”
In addition to community outreach, “Flex Your Power”
includes radio and print advertising to encourage rural
