To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of the community.

LIVE UNITED
Underneath everything we are, underneath everything we do,
we are all people.
Connected, interdependent, united.
And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all.
That's what it means to
LIVE UNITED.

***************************************************************************

In 1887 in Denver, Colorado, a diverse group of community leaders—a woman, a priest, two ministers and a rabbi— came together to improve community conditions. The campaign they created became one of the most important social inventions in history and sparked a movement that established United Way.

Today, nearly 1,800 community-based United Ways in 41 countries and territories, celebrate 125 Years of United Way. Be part of the movement. LIVE UNITED.

Building Healthy Communities Project
In 2009, The California Endowment (TCE), a statewide public health foundation, announced its Building Healthy Communities (BHC) Initiative in 14 selected sites in California. The areas of South Merced, Planada, Le Grand and Franklin/Beachwood make one of these sites. BHC is working with residents, community leaders and decision makers to change existing systems and policies for children to be safe, healthy, and ready to learn. We want your involvement and support. For more details about the Building Healthy Communities Plan, please visit The California Endowment site at www.calendow.org

United Way of Merced Country is beginning to conduct a comprehensive community asset and needs assessment to identify the most urgent health and human service needs right here in our community. That research is guiding our new community impact strategy, which focuses on solving our most pressing community problems by addressing the underlying causes. Our community impact strategy focuses on two specific areas:
