Red Nose Day 2016
Thursday May 26, 2016
United Way of Merced County Presents:
Red Nose Day is a national campaign dedicated to raising money by simply having fun and making people laugh. Money raised is spent to help lift children and young people out of poverty in the US and in Merced County. United Way of Merced County invites you to “Get Seriously Funny” by enjoying an evening for the entire family at this year’s Red Nose Day event in downtown Merced.
(WHEN) On Thursday May 26th, 2016 United Way of Merced County will host a local “Get Seriously Funny Family Fun Festival” event in downtown Merced between M & N Street and Main. The fun filled event will begin at 5:00 pm and run till 8:00 pm.
(WHAT) The “Get Seriously Funny Family Fun Festival” will bring the community together for an evening of fun and games and an opportunity to “Get Seriously Funny” all while fundraising for a great cause. This year’s proceeds will benefit local children in need throughout Merced County by providing “Back to School Clothes” this upcoming school year.
(WHERE) The event will take place on Main Street between M & N Street from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
(HOW) Funds will be raised by selling a Red Nose/Hot Dog/Drink ticket for $ 5.00 along with raffle prizes and an auction. We are also looking for local sponsors to help support the event.
(WHY) Red Nose Day is the day in the U.S. annually and every two years in the UK, when people across the land can get together and do something funny for money at home, school and work. There’s a fantastic night of TV, with comedy and entertainment to inspire the nation to give generously. The event debuted in the U.S. in 2015 and is back again this year for another star-studded live TV event and day of fun-raising in the U.S. on May 26! This is the second year United Way of Merced County has hosted a local event to benefit children in need in our community.
Carol Bowman, Executive Director of United Way of Merced County says “Red Nose Day is important because we focus on helping kids here in our own community who need it most. All funds raised on Red Nose Day in Merced will be used to buy back to school clothes for children in need in Merced County. “
