Agency
Funding Requests
FY 2010/2011
To
Our Community Benefit Organizations,
Thank
you for your interest in applying for funds from United
Way of Merced County. I find this the most satisfying
part of my job – investing in the success of our
agencies and learning more about the wonderful programs
you provide to impact vital human needs in our community.
With
the increased need in our community for health and human
services and with limited dollars available, United Way’s
Board of Directors must ensure that our Community Investment
funding is being made as wisely as possible. And our investors
(donors) want to know that we are making the greatest
possible impact in the areas of need identified in our
community. To this end, United Way of Merced County is
focusing on measuring the values and priorities of individual
programs, as well as an organization’s ability to
support it, and sharing those results with the community.
You may submit a letter of intent for only one program.
This effort is a work in progress for us. As we refine
it over the next several years, we welcome your input
on our process, our materials, and our effectiveness.
Please review the eligibility guidelines and our current
funding priorities. If the project for which you are seeking
funding fits these guidelines, submit your Community Investment
Funding Letter of Intent by 4:00 PM - Friday,
January 15, 2010. The United Way of Merced County’s
Community Investment Funding Committee will review these
letters and invite eligible agencies to submit full applications.
If your program is deemed eligible this year we will ask
for more information about the program for which you are
seeking funding. You will be asked to specify clearly
the anticipated outcome of your program. Please tell us
what you are attempting to do, why there is a need for
it, the expected outcome, and how you will know if you
have achieved this outcome. As much as possible, this
information should be quantified. We realize this is a
significant change, and we will be providing workshops
throughout February.
As in the past, prior funding by United Way of Merced
County does not guarantee funding in any subsequent year.
This is an annual, competitive granting process.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me
via the phone or website above. Thank you again for your
interest in partnering with United Way of Merced County
in meeting our community needs and for all you do to make
our community a better place.
