Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity partners with a family within a certain income group that demonstrates a need for better housing. The family must devote 500 hours of sweat equity towards building their home and must be able to repay a non-interest mortgage based on actual cost of building the home. The cost is kept low through the donation of labor and building materials. Some work must be contracted out such as air conditioning, blue print development and various specialty trades where qualified volunteer labor is unavailable.

Typically the mortgage payment will be very close in cost as their previous rental.
