The Drug Store Project

A comprehensive middle school drug prevention program designed to educate youth about the dangers of substance use and abuse. It is an event where the community of Atwater comes together to sponsor whit is one of the largest collaborative prevention activities in our area.

The Drug Store Project is a day-long event focuses on choices an individual can make when it comes to drug use and abuse. The day focuses on the positive aspects of remaining drug free and achieving goals. It is a series of vignettes, which students experience firsthand. Each vignette is approximately 12 minutes in length. The students in groups of 30 systematically move through the “story line” for the day. The stations of the story line include: the Pharmacy, Juvenile Hall, the Courtroom, Probation/Counseling, the Party, the Emergency Room, the Funeral Home and finally the debriefing.
